IN MEMORY OF

On Friday, July 28, 2000, Elizabeth Powitzky lost her battle with breast cancer. Elizabeth was 27 years old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and was a three-year survivor when she died. In facing this disease, Elizabeth chose to fight not only for herself but for all of us. In 1998 and 1999, Elizabeth chaired the BMW Ultimate Drive for the Cure held at BMW of Nashville. This annual event is nationwide, and BMW donates $1 for every mile driven. Under Elizabeth's leadership, the Nashville event was one of the most successful in the country. In addition, Elizabeth volunteered as a Greater Nashville Race Committee member, and she worked on the Lee Denim Day event. For the past year, Elizabeth served as Junior League Project Chair on the Affiliate's Board of Directors.

It is hard to accept this great loss, but it is because of women like Elizabeth that we must remain committed to the fight against breast cancer.
